Resource Development

Even during tough economic times, the generosity of local residents shone brightly during the 2009-2010 campaign. Nearly 7,000 donors pledged a combined $1.66 million this year. More than 200 workplaces conducted a United Way campaign and hundreds of individuals, couples and several charitable foundations also contributed.

Each year, you give of yourself so that others won’t be forgotten. You are the reason we were able to raise more money this year!

I want to thank the members of a hard working campaign team, our corporate sponsors, the many volunteers who assisted in our activities, our agency partners and their representatives, and especially our corporate and individual contributors. Your efforts and gifts help many people in Anderson County during times of need and in difficult situations. This is truly what it means to "LIVE UNITED".

2009-10 Campaign

As I complete my first year as VP of Finance and Administration, I must first thank Mike Willoughby and Carla Shuler with Greene & Company, LLP for all of their help with the audit, accounting questions and software assistance and a BIG thank you to Brian Johnson, our Treasurer, for his help and understanding as I learned the ropes.

We are proud to announce our overhead percentage dropped from 26.7% (Fundraising-16% and Management & General-10.7%) to 18.7% (Fundraising-11.8% and Management & General-6.9%), due to additional revenue received from AmeriCorps grants and careful spending by our staff.

This year, United Way of Anderson County became the administrator for the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter (FEMA) Board in Anderson County. With this service, we are responsible for making sure all paperwork is turned in and all the requirements for funding are in order for organizations in Anderson that receive money through this federal program.

The United Way of Anderson County continues to strive for financial responsibility as we administer resources the community has entrusted us with to make sure everyone in Anderson County has the opportunity to engage, thrive and prepare for a promising future.
