Conducting Courageous Conversations - the starting point
Communities across America, Anderson communities included, are dealing with some pretty tough issues. Issue so tough and complicated, that it’s hard to know where to start.
Successful action can only start by listening and learning. Community conversations are all about listening and learning. They are the starting point to later move ideas to action. Communities have to come together and listen to each other and learn from each other.
At the United Way of Anderson County, we fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community. We know that bringing people together to improve lives is an important thread in these conversations and local solutions.
For successful community conversations, diversity of voices is critical. Community members, faith leaders, employers, business organizations, youth, elected officials, and a variety of community organizations should all be a part! Please join us.
Community Conversations Series

Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
September 7th Mental Health
September 21st Addiction
October 5th Conflict Resolution

The Community Conversation will be led by Greg Shore, volunteer leader of the effort. Anderson County has agencies that work with these issues every day. They will set the stage with examples of the work they do and share the resources currently available in our community. But that is just the beginning. A trained facilitator from The Weathers Group, experts in the field of convening community conversations, will facilitate an open dialogue for input from those in attendance. To address these issues, it is imperative to hear what citizens believe are the steps to changing the stories we read and hear in the media.
