are rich because we are generous. I agree.
Here in Anderson, we have a 60-year tradition of helping each other get an education, develop good ideas, and build strong communities. We’ve done this for the greater good of everyone, not just for ourselves. As the first African female to serve as Chairperson of the board, initially there will be some attention to my race and gender. But once the dust settles what will matter will be the level of my service and commitment to the United Way of Anderson County.
Demographic characteristics are far less important than the fact that this community is taking an amazingly bold step forward with our transition to Community Impact. In this new era we can become collaborators in a “social profit” venture where through the generosity of our time and resources we will invest in the physical, intellectual and social well-being of Anderson County. |

Heyman, Jr. Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
She referenced her new book entitled The Greater Good: How Philanthropy Drives the American Economy and Can Save Capitalism. Dr. Gaudiani contends that Americans are not generous because we are rich, but we |
