Success By 6 uw_sb6_rgb_ful_vertical.gif

Who We Are:

Succes By 6 is a community initiative of the United Way of Anderson County. It is a national program that focuses on the development of all children from conception through age 6.

The program encourages positive early childhood experiences that foster physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.

This partnership brings together business, government, labor, education, and social service agencies and the community as a whole to focus on making sure young children receive the care and resources they need to succeed.

Why We Do It:

Early childhood is a crucial time for brain development. High quality care and education are crucial to a young child's successful development.

Children who start school behind are less likely to:

  • Catch up with their peers
  • Graduate from school
  • Find meaningful employment at a livable wage

Studies show that an an investment in early childhood development has a huge positive return on investment. No other human service programs can demonstrate such a high return.

What We Do:

  • Provide state approved training for childcare teachers
  • Distribute free books to young children through a number of community partners
  • Collaborate with other early childhood programs to coordinate and enhance service delivery
  • Advocate for federal, state and local support for young children

What Can You Do?:

Parents, Grandparents and Families...

Read to your child. Play. Talk to them. All of these things and more stimulate their brains and help them develop into bright young children.

Educators...

Read to children. Get to know the families and encourage their involvement in the education of their child.

Employers...

Promote a healthy work environment. Encourage a work and life balance. Support employees volunteering in schools and child care centers.

The Faith Community...

Welcome new babies into your church and let parents know they have support. Sponsor a book or toy swap.

Civic Groups...

Educate your members on the needs of local children. Hold a book drive or a diaper drive. Encourage members to mentor a child.

Individuals...

Get involved in a child's life. Make every child you see feel special. Be the ultimate role model.

Our Community...

Support early childhood development and youth activities. Support families. Get involved!
