Message from the Chair
Pat-Joye.jpg

GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER.

What a strong message!

I was first given the opportunity to use these words more than eight years ago when I was asked to become a Founding Member of the Women’s Leadership Council. This committee of twelve dedicated women wanted to make a lasting difference in their community. They chose to fund a scientific and evidence based program for teen pregnancy prevention in School District 3. Who knew that this successful program would make it to TIME magazine as well as moving forward to other school districts?

The Women's Leadership Council is just one of many initiatives that the United Way of Anderson County provides to help “connect the resources of our community with the needs of our community”. Through our Success by 6 Initiative we are now participating in the national Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The leadershipNEXT program is thriving with a strong membership and the help of our many mentors. Our Youth Volunteer Corps has over 150 youth engaged in year round volunteer activities in our community. Throughout the year, we always have opportunities to Give, Advocate and Volunteer with events such as The Day of Action, The Youth Summit presented by the African American Leadership Council, the Communitarian Award, Groovefest and our famous Power of the Purse auction, just to name a few.

With Pat Patrick leading our Campaign this year, we are looking forward to an exciting and outstanding response from our community. It will be my privilege to serve as Chair of the United Way of Anderson County Board of Directors.

We all must LIVE UNITED to GIVE, ADVOCATE, and VOLUNTEER in order to help Anderson County care for those who need our help.

Won’t you join us?

Many thanks,

Pat Joye, Chair
